Do You Believe?

How many of you know that there is power in the name of Jesus? Sounds cliché right, but there seriously is power in the name of Jesus. Lets take a look in the Bible when Jesus healed a boy who was possessed by an impure spirit. In the book of Mark, chapter 9 crowds of people who were in desperate need of answers and disbelief came running to Jesus. Jesus asked them what was going on and a man in the crowd said
17“Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
In reply, Jesus called them an unbelieving generation. When you look up the definition of unbelieving, words like skeptical, doubt and disbelief appear. All those feelings are works of the devil. The devil blinds you with fear and clouds your mind with doubt and disbelief so you wont have faith in our God. I've learned to never doubt God's ability to do big things. If God has the ability to come down to earth in the form of man, formally known as His son and die for our sins so that we can be able to repent and turn to Him in our time of need what makes you think He can't answer your prayer for an A on your test, or for financial stability? Jesus endured a lot for us. He died for us, but the good thing is he rose again. So I ask you again, what make you believe he won't answer your prayer? He defeated the undefeated obstacle because He believed in God's word.
So what can make you believe? Reading the word and praying. You have to know God and his heart to be able to genuinely pray. I mean anyone can say a prayer, but if you don't know God and what He did for the love of you then you won't have much faith that God will answer your prayers. Going back to the book of Mark in chapter 9 Jesus told them to bring the boy to Him and then
"20When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up."
We see here how demons tremble in the presence of Jesus. The man had very little faith in Jesus at first when he asked Him if he can do anything. We all know there's no ifs, ands or buts when it comes to the power of God. He can do anything and everything, nothings impossible. Jesus responded to the man by saying "everything is possible if you believe." The man was honest with himself and Jesus and said "I do belief, help me overcome my unbelief." That was very courageous, you have to ask God to remove all unbelief and believe that He will answer your prayers when you're in trouble.  After the boy was healed, the disciples asked Jesus why couldn't they drive the spirit out. He replied
29 “This kind can come out only by prayer.”
So we see that with hard obstacles like that you have to have strong faith in God and rely on prayer. Don't doubt prayer, believe in it. God hears the cries of His children. When we cry out to God, His heart moves for us and he longs to make our lives easier. You just have to believe. I know it's hard sometimes to believe and it's okay to pray "God I love you but help me love you more. God I trust you but help me trust you more. God I believe in you but help me believe in you more." This will move Him and He will show up and the blessings will overflow in your life. In order to believe in the power of prayer, don't surround yourself with people who aren't strong in their faith and ask them to pray for you, they probably are struggling with disbelief too. Surround yourself with friends who are prayer warriors, who won't stop praying until they see healings and deliverance, who talk in tongues more than they speak English. You need them. Pray even when you barely believe. God loves answering prayers when we have little faith so we can believe in Him and our faith will grow more. I ask God to just calm you waters and whatever storm you're facing I pray that you just believe in God and lean on Him. He has your best interest at heart, if you just believe that there's power in Jesus name. So pray big prayers with big faith to Him!
Stay Blessed!~
